Ten days ago, I commented that Sempervivum 'Cosmic Candy' was standing tall. I didn't see any evidence it was flowering at that time, but now I do. Sempervivums do not flower very often, perhaps because they die after doing so. This is the third one this summer out of 17 plants, which I guess isn't an unusual number with that sample size. That's about 18%, if no one else bolts this year.
August 26: Six days later.
I took a phone snapshot of the two Sempervivums that have bloomed already. 'Powdered Pastry' in the big pot is still flowering, but a couple of the first blooms are fading. It is being photobombed by Unknown #5. Its flower stalk is mostly dried up, and I'll chop it off soon and see if there are viable seeds.
